Dr. Flaherty received his Bachelor of Science in molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1979. He earned his M.D. from Loyola University of Chicago in 1984 and finished his internship at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA, the following year. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at Loyola University of Chicago in 1988. Dr. Flaherty completed a fellowship in external disease and corneal transplants at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY, in 1989. He then completed additional training in oculoplastics and reconstructive surgery at the Massachusetts Eye And Ear Infirmary in Boston, MA. Dr. Flaherty joined the clinic in 1989.

Dr. Flaherty loves doing cataract surgery and helping people get rid of their glasses.
