Dr. Whitehead received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, in 1979, and went on to obtain a Master of Fine Arts in English at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1986. Dr. Whitehead earned his M.D. from the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 2000, and completed an internship at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI, the following year. He pursued his residency at Washington University in St. Louis and completed a medical retina and clinical research fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2006. Dr. Whitehead joined the clinic in 2006.
